Combined patrols disrupt criminal activity in Rashid
BAGHDAD - In the Rashid district of southern Baghdad, at approx. 3 a.m. May 12, Soldiers from 1st BCT, 4th ID, received a tip on the location of a cache from a local citizen, confiscating approx. 200 feet of detonation cord, 50 blasting caps, 200 rounds of ammo and several timers.
At approx. 6:30 a.m. May 13, IP detained a criminal wanted for several murders who tried to pass through a checkpoint in the Shurta community.
At approx. 2 p.m., May 13, Iraqi NP, and the National Police Transition Team, conducted a combined patrol and discovered an emplaced EFP on the side of the road in the northwest Rashid area.
"The ISF are doing a tremendous job in providing security throughout the Rashid district," said Maj. Dave Olson, 1st BCT, 4th ID. "(MND-B Soldiers) can contribute much of its success to the ISF's efforts in securing southern Baghdad."

MND-B Soldiers kill 5 criminals
BAGHDAD - May 14, at approx. 3:30 p.m., MND-B Soldiers were attacked bycriminals using small-arms fire and RPGs in Kadamiyah, returned fire and killed 4.
At approx. 5:30 p.m., MND-B Soldiers received sniper fire from a building in Kadamiyah. An AWT that was providing security overwatch fired a Hellfire missile and killed the violent criminal.

MND-B Soldiers find caches in Rashid district
BAGHDAD - At approx. 3:15 p.m., May 12, Soldiers from the 1st BCT, 4th ID, worked with Iraqi NP on a tip from a local citizen in the Doura community.
The tip led to the discovery of a cache containing a 155mm artillery round, RPG rounds, RPG launchers, machineguns with 100 rounds of ammo, sets of body armor, homemade hand grenades, several containers of homemade explosives, and more than 300 items used in the construction of IEDs.
At approx. 1:50 a.m., May 13, Soldiers from the 1st BCT, found an RPG with launcher and an unknown amount of linked ammo in the Jihad community.
At approx. 10:40 a.m. in the Karb De Gla community, members of the SoI turned in more than 100 pounds of plastic explosives to MND-B Soldiers.
